nThis lovely cylinder is made using the incalmo process. Two blank cups were made to the same size, one of dark blue and one with white cane and then joined together while hot. This cylinder form is beautiful by itself or filled with greens or lovely blossoms.

nCane is a color application where a thin rod of glass is made from various glass rods of different colors to form a design.  Cane ranges from simple to complex. A simple cane is basically a cylinder of colored glass coated with clear glass. There is also a cased cane where the clear is coated with color. Then with complex cane, there are multiple designs, really only limited by the creator’ s skill and imagination. Flat Cane is another cane-making process where a color cup is made and stuffed and the cane is then flattened and pulled.

nIncalmo is a glass process that involves constructing an object, usually a vessel, by fusing in-situ two or more glass blown elements. This process was first practiced in the Islamic world during the Middle Ages. It demands great precision as the edges of the two elements must be precisely the same in diameter.
