The Green Mitt is part of Sally’s Geoscience Series. The knowledge she has gained from her 35 years as a geoscientist affects her work in glass. She has multiple series that show this effect, including this one from the Lava Mini Series, Fantasy Tower Stratigraphy Series, Geoscapes, and Rocks.
The lava mini-series is all about letting colors flow and run while hot and then sculpting the piece into the desired form. Each piece has one focus color and some dichroic added to give that sparkle effect. To the artist, making these is similar to watching lava flow, and the temperatures are about the same!
