White Cane Murrini with Flat Cane

This elegant White Cane Murrini with Flat Cane Vase Form was made during a demonstration at our studio.  The simple white cane was pulled, then bundled into murrini and pulled again.  The yellow and green flat cane was pulled separately.  Each cane pull takes 1-2 people 40 minutes to complete.  The murrini were organized on a 12-inch plate and heated, first in the annealer and then in the glory hole, rotating and heating with a torch.  It was blown into a blank cup measured with a pi divider.  The flat cane was rolled up, blown, and separated into two cups.  The first cup was incalmo’d with the white murrini cup and then a second incalmo of the flat cane was added on the other side.  The blowing time for this piece was a little over three hours.
